Meet the Lab

AMY LOEBMANN

Ectoparasitic sea lice are a major problem in salmon aquaculture, with infestations giving rise to lost production, treatment costs and negative impacts on wild stocks. There are many ways farms manage sea lice, but effective treatment can be harmful for both the salmon and the environment. My research explores ways to more effectively and ethically treat sea lice in salmon farms, with a particular focus on improving the performance of cleaner fish, an oft used biological control.
